Metabolism Explained publishes educational articles for non-specialists who want clear, scientifically serious explanations of metabolism, peptide hormones, appetite, insulin, energy balance, body composition, and metabolic research. Our guiding question is simple: What biological process is being discussed, what evidence supports the claim, and what does the evidence not yet prove?
How we select and explain evidence
We use original peer-reviewed studies and primary medical, scientific, and regulatory authorities for substantive claims. For technical or time-sensitive details—such as medicine approval status, indications, prescribing information, warnings, trial status, sponsors, and published results—we rely on current primary documentation.
Evidence is described according to what was actually studied. We distinguish biochemical and cell research, animal experiments, observational human data, interventional human trials, approved-use evidence, and post-marketing findings. When discussing a clinical trial, we explain the population, comparator, duration, endpoints, and important limitations where those details affect interpretation. Results from separate trials are not treated as direct comparisons unless the interventions were randomized head-to-head.
Attribution, judgment, and boundaries
We distinguish research findings, supplier or study-sponsor statements, and editorial judgment. Sponsor announcements can establish current pipeline information when peer-reviewed results are unavailable, but they are not presented as equivalent to published research. Our conclusions are reasoned interpretations of the available evidence, and we state uncertainty when findings are early, indirect, or incomplete.
Approved medicines, investigational compounds, compounded products, supplements, and research-use-only materials are kept distinct. Metabolism Explained is educational, not a treatment service. Our articles do not provide individualized diagnosis, treatment selection, dosing, self-administration, or acquisition guidance.
Images and commercial disclosures
Editorial artwork is presented as illustration rather than documentary evidence. Documentary images and data-based visuals identify their sources. Commercial relationships or sponsorships are described only when documented, with relevant disclosures attached to the affected content.
